What is a Go bag or a Bug out bag?
A Go bag aims to cover your needs from one point to home. It can be from work, from temporary place or travel. Examples of what can cause the need for a Go bag are a massive power outage, natural disaster or even an invasion. In these circumstances, it is reasonable for public transport to stop and make roads impassable. Under the same principle, a Bug out bag is the difference that you need to leave home quickly. Perhaps you need to get to a shelter, a summer house or maybe just a less populated area for some time.
What should a Go bag or a Bug out bag contain?
The contents of a bag can differ greatly from person to person and are largely governed by personal references. What is common to all of us is our physical need for warmth, water, food and rest. Those needs are fundamental and cannot be ignored. So primarily, the content should to a minimum address those needs. Then the environment you are in controls and what conditions you have in your own physics and knowledge. If you need to get through the forest and land or urban environment and if it is winter or summer, factors are factors that affect the content, even if the basic needs remain.
One idea is to build your bag in modules, which can be replaced and supplemented according to conditions. I.e., a basic bag that can be supplemented with a winter kit or extra equipment for forest and land. A go bag can also then quickly become a Bug out bag although the latter may need more space for a longer time outside the home.
One of the most important components of both crisis boxes and bug out bags is always knowledge and self-awareness. It can be a good idea to get from the workplace in good conditions, usually cars to, on foot. Get to know the road and terrain, learn which areas can pose a danger in a stressed environment and which can be an asset, understand what it physically requires of you and get to know both limitations and what is possible. Usually you can do more than you think. If nothing else, it is good for the body, bud and the environment.
For convenience, we have composed ready-made bags. Our bags are based on the same basic needs as our crisis boxes. We need heat, water and food to function and these needs should be covered by the contents. Access to information can also be important. The difference between a crisis box and a Go bag is that one is adapted for the home and the other to get to the home. A Bug out bag, on the other hand, aims to get away from home and although the contents of the two bags are broadly similar, a bug out bag usually requires a little more equipment.
