You can do without food for a long time!

But pretty soon the general condition and mental health will be affected. A time without food affects the mood and the ability to think clearly which is of course extra bad in a crisis situation. Being prepared for a time without access to groceries can therefore be a good idea.

In the event of a major power outage, our modern society is affected.

Deliveries of goods and the ability to keep goods fresh are directly affected. Today's stores have little or no stock at all and depend on frequent deliveries. In the event of an outage, the goods in the store run out quickly. Would you last a week without replenishing your supplies? An interesting exercise may be to live off what you have at home for a week' s time. If you only eat old pasta the third day and have nothing left at day five it might be an idea to create a strategy.

In case of power failure, of course, the oven and stove also stop working. Do you have a plan for how to cook your food without electricity? Here a good exercise can be to cook with the help of storm stoves or maybe tea lights. Just thinking trough how to act in a power outage is half the preparation

Food with a long shelf life.

Examples of long-lasting food are rice, pasta, beans and dried berries and fruits. However, this food has a disadvantage in that it is not intended to be stored over time and can therefore become poor and lose its nutritional content. Although freeze-dried food can be cooked with cold water, the experience is of course better with warm water. With a camping stove, you can easily heat water for cooking even when you don't have access to a working stove. A camping stove can be powered by liquid fuel or LPG.
