Bushcraft Essentials Bushbox XL combination kit is, as the name reveals, the largest of the kitchens from Bushcraft Essentials. Despite its size, the kitchen is assembled in just a few seconds due to the solid hinges on the side. Simply fold up the kitchen and the pieces fall into place by themselves.
Bushbox XL Combination Kit is a substantial kitchen
Here you have plenty of space for wood, coal or pellets and the kitchen quickly creates a proper heat over which you can easily heat the contents of a saucepan or frying pan with . This kit also includes a grill grate (universal grate) on which you can cook a solid piece of T-bone steak for one hungry person or two smaller pieces of meat for two moderately hungry ones.
Bushbox XL Combination Kit is a flexible solution
Despite its size, the Bushcraft Essentials Bushbox XL combination kit takes up very little space when folded, only 19 x 12.5 x 1 cm. Since the kitchen only weighs 800 grams, overall it will be a small, flexible and versatile kitchen that, with proper handling, will last for many years to come. This special edition comes with a durable storage bag instead of the cloth bag and a grill plate for cooking directly in the kitchen.
What fuel can you use in your Bushbox XL Stove?
The short answer is, anything that burns! But yes, you can actually use everything from pine cones and small twigs to fuel gel, Esbits and even Trangia's alcohol burners. Precisely this breadth of possible fuels is the greatness behind a Bushcraft Essentials Bushbox XL, also called The Hobo stove.
The technology behind the Bushbox XL
A Hobo Stove is designed so that it becomes a self-draft which partly concentrates the heat to a smaller point, partly uses the fuel more efficiently and creates less smoke. The fact that you also don't leave traces behind through a bonfire directly on the ground can also be positive, as these were often used in an urban environment from the start.
Bushbox - History
The name The Hobo Stove comes from the beginning when homeless people (hobo's) made the kitchen out of a used can, where they simply modified the construction into a kitchen. The effect, albeit in a new design, is what is created in modern factory-made and folding kitchens. The sum is that you get a small storm kitchen, which effectively lives on small sticks instead of gas or alcohol.
Bushbox XL - Materials
Bushcraft Essentials Bushbox XL Combination Kit comes in either a high quality stainless steel or titanium. The stainless steel is substantial, robust and comes at a lower price. Titanium is stronger and weighs less than steel but is slightly more expensive. So if weight is decisive, you should choose titanium. If the weight is not that important and you want to save a couple of hundred bucks, you should absolutely choose the high-quality steel.

Care instructions Bushbox XL
Always allow the Bushcraft Essentials Bushbox XL Combination Kit to cool naturally after use. Never pour cold water on hot steel as it can harden and make the kitchen difficult to assemble. The same goes for overheating. Fire at a reasonable pace, partly because overheating of the steel can occur, partly because you are consuming more fuel than is necessary.
Cleaning Bushbox XL
When cleaning, anything but steel wool can be used (which can leave iron particles and rust). The best natural cleaners are sand or horsetail (a plant, it's actually one of the best materials for cleaning pots, plates, cutlery and metal in general). Indoors, you can use a kitchen sponge or run your cooker through the dishwasher.
