More about the Philips TAR1609/00 Emergency Radio

During power outages and other disruptions, a battery- or hand-crank-powered radio provides a simple way to continue receiving information even when mains electricity and internet services are unavailable. The Philips TAR1609/00 receives both FM and AM radio and features a telescopic antenna for radio reception.

The built-in lithium-ion battery is normally charged via USB-C and provides up to 32 hours of radio listening at moderate volume. If mains electricity is unavailable, the battery can also be charged using the integrated solar panel or hand crank.

As an additional backup, the radio can be powered by three standard AAA batteries. The combination of a rechargeable battery, solar panel, hand crank and replaceable batteries provides several options for keeping the radio running during extended outages.

Via the USB-A output, the radio can also be used as an emergency power source to charge a mobile phone or other small electronic device.

The built-in flashlight provides illumination in the dark. In an emergency, the SOS alarm can be activated, combining a powerful audible signal with a flashing light to attract attention.

The radio is compact and equipped with a carrying strap, making it easy to store in an emergency kit or take along in the car, caravan or camping equipment. With radio, lighting, emergency power and multiple power options combined in a single unit, the Philips TAR1609/00 is a practical choice for both home preparedness and outdoor use.
