When we're out in the open air, meals are a clear highlight whether it's a hearty meat stew from REAL Turmat, grilled sausage or some juicy chops. When it comes to grilling out in nature, it is of course convenient with the set up barbecue areas that can be found in many places. But what do we do if the longing for loneliness and silence takes over and we go far away from trampled paths and at the same time want to treat ourselves to the luxury of a grilled steak?
Of course, it is possible to dig out a fire pit or grill on bushcrafted grill grills. But at the same time, it is a great pleasure to just be able to throw the steak on a grid, sit back with a beer or some other drink and inhale the lovely smells of food on a grill. Without holding itself in a grate or constantly monitoring a makeshift solution so that it does not fall apart.

The grill weighs less than 1.5 kilos and easily fits in a slightly larger backpack as it takes up only 34 X 25 X 2 centimeters in packing area. Despite the small format, it still offers a grill surface of 25 x 33 cm that easily swallows two full-sized steak pieces along with some onions and other tasty ones.
Putting the grill together is extremely easy. Although I've never assembled it before, I'll fix the steak in under half a minute. Just fold up the grill itself, fold out the two leg frames and place it on a reasonably flat surface. Then you can either light the fire in the grill itself or move over already finished charcoal from a fire that you made on the side.
Once the fire has calmed down (or after moving over the charcoal), mount the grill grill itself on the grill. Here we recommend using proper barbecue gloves or using a stick to separate the side panels as they curve a little towards the fireplace.

The advantage of having a barbecue that, so to speak, stands on its own two feet is that it is easier to start a fire during cold, snowy tours. Since the timber and ignition materials are well above the cold ground, the fire burns better and easier. In addition, you do not risk burning or soiling moss in the same way as if you burn freely on the ground.
We have now used UCO Flatpack for all our excursions as we intend to barbecue. In fact, it has even hung around by mistake several times because it is so small and weighs so little. At every opportunity of outdoor grilling, it has delivered fully, both in terms of comfort in the back, barbecue surface and ease of use. If you're looking for a compact but competent wilderness barbecue, I think this might be the perfect accessory on the family excursion to the wilderness!
