It is important to keep in mind when it comes to water purification is to take water from as running a source as possible. As far as possible, avoid taking water from bodies of water with still standing water and cloudy content. Preferably do not take surface water and if possible choose water a bit out from the shoreline.

How does Katadyn BeFree Gravity Filter 10 L work?

The purification takes place with 0.1 microns precision which means that protozoa decreases by 99.9% and bacteria by 99.9999%. The filter itself can withstand up to 1000 liters of water purification. If you only clean clear water, the filter can purify more, which also means that it can do less if you purify turbid water. Cleaning the filter if it is re-inserted is done through so-called "EZ-Clean advantage" which means having water in the bottle and shaking it vigorously. Alternatively, unscrew the filter and dip it in water and "swish"it quickly from side to side inthe water. Then the debris will come loose and you can continue to purify water again. The filter should never be rinsed horizontally under a tap as this may destroy the filter.
